Carlos Pena turned down a larger offer by the Indians to re-up with the Rays

In a day and age of Pujols, Wilson, and Reyes, it’s nice to have guys like Pena, Wood, and Rollins.



Rays out of the race for Josh Willingham.  

He is now deciding between the Indians or the Twins. Bummer.

James Shields had another great outing. He pitched 7 innings while striking out 7, lowering his ERA to 2.08 and winning the series for the Rays.

Shields ERA over the past six starts is 1.33.
Since a 1-8 start for the Rays, they are a major-league-best 21-7 and alone at the top of the standings.
