That doesn’t mean all can afford him—they can’t (see: Astros, Orioles, etc).
But it looks like Torii Hunter was right when he said…

for having at least 120+ different line-ups this year, so what do you think? Do you think if our guys had regular play/consistency from day to day, do you think we could have done better? Or do you think that Maddon did this in his own genius way to try to get us as far as he could?

You pretty much summed up what I thought. I think we will resign both Balfour and Choate. Wheeler for $4million? Nah. It’s quite possible we will trade both Bartlett and Garza. Hey, they were traded together last time, just sayin’. I think Brignac/Rodriguez could fill Bartlett’s shoes quite well.

about how he doesn’t want to address the media in St. Petersburg about his time spent here.
His half-ass answer on why he didn’t produce here: “I wish I knew the answer, because it probably would have worked out differently down there,” Burrell said at the news conference, when he had to answer. “For me it has to have something to do with being in the flow of the game, playing in the field, being active in the game. I think that’s a huge part of it for me. I’m not saying that that’s right or wrong. I think just for me that was an important part of it.”
My thoughts?
It’s obvious he didn’t want to be in Tampa Bay from the start, and it showed. He stated many times that he didn’t want to be a DH, and no one else wanted him so it’s like he shrugged his shoulders and said.. might as well. The dude always seemed to have a stoic attitude about him, which made me angry considering how many minor league players and dying for a chance to even be just a DH. I went to too many games to not notice his lazy swing and piss-poor attitude when it came to playing with us. He was just waiting to be let go, to sign to another team.
With that said, it’s horrible for people to think that his time with the Rays was horrible because of management, but really, he OBVIOUSLY didn’t want to be here in the first place. Sure, he’s producing for the Giants and good for him, but I’m more than happy we let him go. It wasn’t too early for me.
I know some people with the Giants fanbase will hate on me for this, but really, he hasn’t played anywhere near as poorly for the Giants as he did for us. My thoughts of him are forever tainted.
Alex Rodriguez was expected to hit his 600th homerun in Tropicana Field on August 1, 2010. I was at that game. He wasn’t in the starting lineup for the Yankees, but when he got substituted in late in the game, I and 36,000 other people were on their toes to watch the epicness of the moment, not…
I want to know who wrote this and add them immediately (if they aren’t on my list already).
